California Revisited...part IV

Thursday morning the rest of the out of towners arrived. We grilled out at my brother's place and played some bongo ball.

For the rehearsal Friday afternoon, the gentlemen dressed in cowboy attire. They were a handsome crew, especially these two.

Thanks to Aunt Laura, Uncle Brian, and my two grandmas who took good care of Charity during the rehearsal, wedding and a good chunk of the reception. Not that these are the faces of people who mind hanging with a cute little girl.

Trevor enjoyed the spumoni ice cream.

And we all enjoyed the gathering of family.

California Revisited...part III

Tuesday we went to Raging Waters, the water park formerly known as Water World. It's come a long way since I was a kid. We had a fun time but decided that even the kiddy section was a little too much for Trevor. We learned it was a little too much for Derek as well. He took a huge chunk of skin out of his elbow when he fell trying to stand up at the bottom of an itty bitty slide. The wound is healing but his elbow is still swollen today, two weeks later. In his defense, it happened when he attempted to hold Trevor above the rush of water at the bottom of the slide and stood too quickly. Thank you Derek for caring enough to risk limb in order to protect your son from a little water in the face. After that we spent most of our time in the lazy river which was cool by me.

Wednesday afternoon Derek, Trevor, Charity and I met my good friend Melina and her kids at a local spray park. Apparently there is one in our home town but I had never been to one before. It's a great idea for hot climates and the kids had fun. Trevor spent most of his time on the playground and not in the water but it was nice to have an avenue to cool off every now and then.

Melina has a little girl exactly two weeks older than Charity. It's fun for us to get our kids together.

We just wish we could do it more often.

We hated to say goodbye.

Our water park passes allowed us free access to the California State Fair so we headed there Wednesday evening, opening night. They had a few new, fun exhibits for the kids.

Trevor enjoyed seeing the tortoises and reptiles in the jungle experience.

And he LOVED the dinosaur exhibit. ROARRRR!

I didn't buy anything on a stick and still managed to enjoy myself thoroughly.
